May:
Trendspotting Head to Toe
1. The Power Piece
2025 is set to be a historic music year in Sweden, and with people crisscrossing the country for festivals, there’s one accessory more essential than ever: the power bank. Just like we’ve seen people adding style by clipping their keys to belt loops, power banks are becoming part of the outfit. Remember where you heard it first.
Some of this summer’s most star-studded festivals include Way Out West, Brännbollsyran and Rosendal Garden Party.
2. A Summer Between Bread
Sandwiches being a superior form of food is old news, but this summer they’ll truly be getting the attention they deserve. With picnics and day trips on the agenda, sandwiches will be our go-to lunch as they are easy to pack and endlessly customizable.
One great recipe to level up your sandwich game.
For those who’d rather skip the picnic: a newly opened restaurant in Södermalm serving sandwiches until 1 AM.
3. Walking on Water
Summer style is all about ease and comfort, and perhaps that’s why we’ve seen the country house look making its way into the city in recent years. And that trend is here to stay. But if last summer was all about clogs and suede slippers, this year, it’s all about water sandals. These braided shoes, often made from durable plastics, come in a variety of colors and can be worn with or without socks, paired with shorts or even long jeans. Like many new trends, they might feel a little odd at first, but before you know it, they’ll feel like they’ve always been part of the scene. Plus, they’re perfect for navigating rocky Swedish beaches and will save your classic Birkenstocks from getting water-damaged.
4. Pour me Pure
In the theme of easiness, we’re saying goodbye to aperol and drinks this summer and going all in on one ingredient-beverage. Whether it’s wine, beer, sparkling or rising star local cidre, our glasses will be filled with one thing only.
Speaking of wine – while every month is wine month, this is the month. On 24 May, we’re hosting our annual wine festival, featuring orange wine tastings and an epic garden hang.
More details on that, along with two other wine tips, can be found here.
