1. Kent & The Epic Pre-party
If you’re in town during March, you’ll probably be hearing a LOT of folks banging on about Kent – the iconic Swedish pop-rock band that recently announced their reunion. With no less than six concerts, Stockholm will definitely be buzzing with Kent fever all month long and although the tickets might be sold out, there’s still a chance to join in. On March 15, a week before the first concert, Södermalm-based Debaser is hosting a special pre-party event where they’ll exclusively play Kent songs – setting the stage for a classic indie club night. However, if clubbing isn’t your scene, you can also celebrate the reunion in a slightly more sophisticated way by going to Lilla Ego, a world-class restaurant named after a famous Kent song.
2. Football Season
Nothing says spring like a green fog rolling over the streets, thousands of people roaring incoherent chants and drinking beer at the reasonable hour of 11 a.m. – right? Well, football fan or not, the seasonal premiere of the Swedish league Allsvenskan won’t go unnoticed – at least not if you’re in Södermalm. Here, the local team Hammarby (commonly referred to as “Bajen”) isn’t just for football fanatics and hooligans. Their games are just as much a must-attend event for your classic, semi-football-interested Söder-hipster, who’s mostly there for the looks of the scarf and an excuse to drink beer on a Sunday. But if going to the actual game feels a bit much, we suggest heading to Babylon instead. Just a 350-meter walk from NOFO, this relaxed hideaway in the heart of the football spectacle offers a great combo of Bitburger and cumin-spiced cheese.
3. The Princess Cake
What would it be like not to mention the princess cake on its official day? We don’t want to know. Therefore, we’ll wrap up this March letter with the greatest comeback of all time. After years in the cold, the princess cake has finally been given a seat at the VIP table: Sturehof. With a mini version of the traditional treat, their new dessert has gone viral – particularly among the influencer elite. However, since they often share one between four people, we want to say one thing: it’s more than okay to eat the whole thing yourself. Also, don’t worry if you can’t get your hands on one today – it’s served on all other days as well, and it’s a new oldie that seems to be here to stay. Just like us!
