Key to Söder: Hanna & Hedda
Hanna and Hedda are two born-and-raised Stockholmers who have spent more than their fair share of time in Södermalm. These days, the couple no longer lives in Söder but in a more dog-friendly part of the city – yet they constantly find themselves returning for the creative energy, the exciting mix of people, that special vibe, and, of course, their favorite spots.
1.Burgerian
There’s a certain kind of place you don’t think exists anymore – the kind that transports you back to another time. That’s exactly what Burgerian is. This falafel joint on Östgötagatan is truly one of a kind, nothing like the typically trendy new
spots. Here, falafel costs just 35 (!) SEK a piece, is the best in town, and is served in a charmingly weird environment.
2. Bar Europa
Even though they no longer live in the neighborhood, Hedda and Hanna still hold on tight to having a regular spot in Söder. Bar Europa, located on Bysistorget, offers not only great food and drinks but also incredible people-watching. If you really want to embrace Hanna and Hedda’s habits, swing by early, around 4 PM, and order a slice of pizza.
3 . Bajen
One of the many things Hanna and Hedda share is their love for Hammarby, or “Bajen.” In winter, when football is off-season, they go to handball games at Eriksdalshallen and bandy at Zinken instead – two perfect ways to brighten up a dark weekday evening or a slow winter weekend.
4. Duvan Pub
Few things capture that cinematic, wintry holiday feeling quite like a Guinness. And if anything has become obvious over the past year, it’s that the “split the G” trend has taken over Stockholm – especially Södermalm. One great place to enjoy your Guinness is Duvan, a bar on Ringvägen where there’s always something fun happening
