There’s always something special about the vibe just before a night out begins. It often ends up being the best part, better even than the night itself. You take that first sip of your drink, the energy is high, and there’s a buzz of anticipation in the air. We totally get it.
Lucky for us, Södermalm is packed with places that are perfect for exactly that pre-party feeling. So, just in time for a season full of events, here are our top picks for a pre-drink on Söder, where you can warm up before having to mingle with your friend’s cousin, a stranger at a graduation party or an old ex.
1. BLECK
Tucked inside Blecktornsparken, this restaurant features an outdoor bar with a wooden podium where you can sit tiered like on steps, overlooking the lively park. It’s the perfect mix of urban buzz and greenery, and the closest you will get to Copenhagen in Stockholm.
2. Vina
Vina is a cozy restaurant that’s perfect for a dinner or date all year round. However, in the summertime, it’s an especially nice place to go as they open up an outside seating area at Garbo’s torg. This year, it’s twice as big AND if you’re a large group of 8–12 people, it will even be possible to book a table outside, which really is a rarity.
3. Bar Europa
If you’ve walked past Bysistorget this time of year, you’ve probably noticed the pond of red plastic chairs scattered across the square. They look like they belong somewhere further south (like the kind of chair an old Italian man would smoke in, or the ones you find at a no-frills lunch spot in France). And there’s a reason for that! They belong to Bar Europa, a small restaurant offering excellent wines and a constantly changing food menu. But above all, they offer a perfect sunny location and a festive vibe that surely will give you the right type of energy.
