INTO THE BLUE
Whoever said you can’t feel peak summer without leaving the city clearly didn’t know where
to swim. Because here’s the truth: the right spot changes everything. All it takes is one cool
lake, a sun-warmed rock, and the hum of nothing but nature – and suddenly, city summer hits
differently. You just need to know where to look. So grab your towel – these are our go-to
swimming spots just outside the city: effortlessly idyllic, blissfully crowd-free.
1. Ulvsjön
While many in Stockholm’s southern suburbs flock to the ever-popular Söderbysjön, the real
pros head to Ulvsjön – a true if you know, you know-kind of place. Here, you won’t have to
fight for towel space, overhear three separate family arguments, or endure bad music blasting
from portable speakers. Instead, stretch out on sun-warmed cliffs with a stunning view and
nothing but nature’s own soundtrack in the background.
2. Hästhagsbadet
Hästhagen is a charming little area in Tyresö. The beach here is usually calm, with clear
water and big, newly built piers. It’s easily reachable by bus – but fair warning: food options
are basically nonexistent. So pack a picnic (perhaps the one from last month’s newsletter?)
and make a day of it.

3. Badberget, Nockeby
If you’re heading north instead, Badberget in Nockeby is well worth a visit. Along with
gorgeous sunset views, you’ll find cliffside spots perfect for diving and sunbathing. Given the
terrain, it’s not ideal for families with small kids – but just right for a day with your fellow
summer-in-the-city friends. Bring a bottle of good wine (like this one), and lean all the
way into your urban summer era.
