August

MUSIC TO MY EARS

August tends to be a bit of a slow starter. After months of running in low power mode, your brain suddenly has to handle everything from work deadlines to small talk by the coffee machine. Eyes squint at the unfamiliar glare of a computer screen, while fingers awkwardly find their way back across the keyboard. But just because the return to routines and city life can feel like hitting a wall, it doesn’t mean summer’s magic is gone. In fact, August is one of the hottest event seasons of the year – especially for music. Sure, the midsummer parties and sunset mingles might be behind us, but the music scene is only just warming up. That’s why this month’s newsletter theme is, of course, music – from live shows all the way into your headphones.

1. NOFO SESSIONS

After last year’s success, we at NOFO are keeping the momentum going with
our very own music events. NOFO Sessions is an intimate concert concept where we invite both emerging and established artists to our garden, giving the audience a chance to get up close. With two sessions already behind us (Jesper Lindell & Judy Blank), four remain – promising great wine, great company, and of course, fantastic music. Entrance is completely free, and you can find all the details here

2. VINTERVIKEN SUNSET SESSIONS

If you’re not quite ready to venture too far from the city, Slakthusområdet (which is like the Stockholm version to Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District) is a perfect place. This area is packed with great restaurants, but with the city a little emptier than usual, it’s the perfect time to hit up a place that’s usually fully booked. If you thought you were over small plates, you clearly haven’t been to Bar Montan yet. Go there. Order everything. Live your best life.

3. TRÄDGÅRDEN LIVE: KARAKOU & CLEO

If you’ve been anywhere near Stockholm lately, you’ve probably heard about the buzz around Trädgården – the city’s iconic summer club now facing the risk of closure after complaints from neighbors. If, heaven forbid, that happens, this summer might be your last chance to experience this legendary venue. And what better way to do it than at their Live Sessions? We especially recommend catching Karakou and Cleo – two very different live acts, but both guaranteed to deliver performances you won’t want to miss.

4. NOFO PLAYLIST

At NOFO, our love for music runs deep. So deep that we couldn’t keep it all to ourselves. Therefore, we wanted to take NOFO’s musical vibe to the next level with our NOFO Playlist – a collection of tracks curated by our friends, each putting their own spin on the NOFO feel. The playlist is the perfect warm-up before your visit, or the next best thing when you just can’t get enough and want to bring the NOFO atmosphere home with you.

5. BEST OF: WAY OUT WEST

As usual, early August brought one of Sweden’s biggest music events. With a lineup boasting Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Mk.gee and Yung Lean,

Gothenburg festival Way Out West was more hyped than ever and smashed attendance records.

If you missed out, there’s no need to sink too deep into the FOMO, as we’ve put together the perfect antidote. In our Post-Way Out West guide, we’ve handpicked the best albums from WOW artists so that you can still capture a slice of that festival magic – without needing any wristband.
