Key to Söder: BAABA

Baaba’s Södermalm is defined by two things: music and Asian food. His favorite places are
filled with memories and nostalgia from his childhood, yet still hold up just as well today.

1.Sea Sushi

Sea Sushi is a Korean and Japanese restaurant on Östgötagatan that Baaba has been visiting since he was a kid, often with his mother. Even though that was a long time ago, it feels like nothing has changed – the sushi tastes exactly the same as it did when he was seven. In true Baaba fashion, the meal here should start with miso soup and green tea, and his go-to order, ever since he was young, has always been their bibimbap.

2. Record Mania

On the same street as Sea Sushi, you’ll find one of Baaba’s other go-to spots: Record Mania. This record shop has been around since 1966 and sells music across every genre. With its great atmosphere and constantly updated selection, it’s the kind of place you can always rely on for musical inspiration.

3 . Fade Records

While Baaba frequently visits Record Mania, there’s one record store that stands out
as his all-time favorite: Fade Records. This is the place for true music nerds – the ones
who don’t settle for scratching the surface but want to dig deeper into the world of
music. The staff here are genuine experts, knowledgeable about everything from
old-school rap to electronic cuts.

Bonus Tip!

Södermalm is a true goldmine when it comes to Asian food. So if you, like Baaba, are a sucker for it, there are plenty of spots beyond Sea Sushi that absolutely deserve a visit. Among his personal favorites are 58 Dim Sum, Mormors Dumplings, Chao Na, and Ai Ramen.
